Calculation rules & assumptions

The formulas from your original calculator are retained.

  1. Only the 7 planets (Sun to Saturn) are used; Rahu and Ketu are ignored. Scorpio is ruled by Mars and Aquarius by Saturn.
  2. Exaltation, debilitation and Moolatrikona apply only inside the stated degrees; outside them the planet takes Mitra, Sama or Shatru value from the sign it sits in.
  3. Grah Bal in Rashi Bal = total Grah Bal (Mooltrikon Bal + Ansh + Kendra) of the sign's lord.
  4. Drishti Bal uses Jaimini Rashi Drishti: 60 if the sign's lord aspects it, plus 60 if Jupiter and/or Mercury does (once). Planets in the sign itself count only if the box below is ticked.
  5. "Strongest" for Brahma and Rudra = highest total Grah Bal. Ties are flagged and the first candidate is taken. Saturn is never Brahma.
  6. Rudra = stronger of the 2nd and 8th lords from Lagna. Maheshwar = lord of the 8th sign from the Atmakaraka's sign.
  7. Dasha runs forward in zodiac order from Brahma's sign (7, 8 or 9 years by Char, Sthir, Dwiswabhav); dates use 365.25-day years.
